Wow! Did we just reached consensus for the first time on these forums?
It's time to celebrate by toasting with a non-large corporation produced beverage then enjoy a meal at a non-hotel buffet and topping off our celebrations, proceed to board a high-speed train instead of flying to Chongqing.
;)
DL on Sofitel:
+ Sofitel may fit the high-end ambience of a romantic anniversary
+ Sofitel's western buffet has one of the most spectacular 360 degrees view of the entire city. (book the window tables facing Dianchi Lake, or Western "XiShan" Mountains for sunsets), though the view is obscured by window reflections after dusk.
+ 3 delicious selections of sauces for the crustacean crab legs/lobsters
+ Yummy and well-presented pastries, with New Zealand ice creams like Wyndham.
+ Masonry brick oven thin crust pizza.
+ Grilled to order cod, with a dab of lemon was sublime.
+ Lots of cheese and salamis in closed, low-humidity wine room.
- Expensive, 308rmb (same as Intercontinental I believe)
- Arrive early when dinner starts at 17:30 to pile up on the seafood as they are quickly ravaged after 6pm, but staffs are slow to refill the communal plates when emptied.
- The juice bar male attendant had a attitude problem (both times), many of the fruits on display are for adornments, not for blending.
- Attitudes of restaurant chefs/assistance need improving.
Almost forgot...
+ Complimentary white or red bottle of wine for each table
The Intercontinental is very expensive as Tiger said (if my memories right it is 360rmb) but it does have an impressive setting for something like an anniversary. I myself celebrated year before's wedding anniversary there, so on the same mindset :o)
Somewhere like the Brazilian BBQ might be good for the food and price but it doesn't compare when it comes to the feeling. Both are good for what they do, just depends how much you're willing to spend for the event (1st anniversary or 20th lol). I always look at the Intercontinental as a rare treat but I do love the food selection so pay out once in a while.
Look forward to dining at The Intercontinental some day.
Correction on my previous post. New Zealand ice cream like Wanda. Wyndham offers Haagen-Dazs.
All you can eat Haagendaz, Wyndham gets my vote, but the intercontinental isn't really that much farther if you've gotten to Nanya.
how much is wyndham buffet? anyone know?
@Dazzer
via Meituan APP, the price for Wyndam is 238rmb per person, 419rmb for two.
on the same Meituan APP, the price of Sofitel & Intercontinental dinners are both 308rmb.
... 328rmb on Fridays and Saturdays for Intercontinental via the app.
