@lemon lover
Yes! Another thing I forgot to mention. I had copies of my wife's ID card but forgot to tell her to bring it. Good thing she didn't forget. I would have been pissed if I had to go back and get it ( I love way up in the North).
@Liumingke
Good that you love her anyway ;-)
Damn typos ha.ha.

All this hastle to get a visa so you can live with your spouse is one of the reasons I opted instead to get a 9 year Q2 visa (Hong Kong would not issue a 10 year). I need to go out of the country every 90 days, but it's a short trip to Chiang Mai or Thailand for a day of shopping or whatever.
I not sure which would cause the most hassle. Reading all the comments, variables and doubts on this thread and taking them to heart or just going to find out myself at the office
@AlPage
Well if you can afford this globetrotting.
For us of humbler means less than 500 kuai (400 + copies and photos) and a few hours work is all it takes.
@ AlPage: Appreciate your situation, not too dissimilar to mine (have to leave every 60 days). Thus bureaucratic absurdity can contribute to air pollution & depletion of natural resources (long-distance day trips merely to shop & get yr ticket stamped again).
@AlPage48
I didn't get married to 'get a visa'. I got married because of my love for my now wife. That being said, anyone who gets married for a visa is crazy because it's much cheaper in the long run (divorces can be nasty and costly) to be single or just 'shack up'. The visa thing is just how it is. I rather get it over with every two or three then every year. After being here for 10 years you would think they would give us a break. This thread was only directed to those who are going to renew the 'residence visa'.
Having to leave every 60 or 90 days is really a hassle and costly to most people I think. I don't envy you guys/gals at all. Good luck and be well.
Yep, much cheaper and more convenient to travel to Tuodong Lu once a year and fork out 400.
