@ Peter: large bowl but not luxury, at place near where I live. small bowl is Y7. I think the price is about average for such places, though I haven't compared around.

Prices can vary with the neighborhood and there is a corresponding quality attached.
I was in a low rent neighborhood last week, I got a baodzi for 1.5 rmb. It was not good, but passable. I also go to a more upmarket area, and the baodzi are 2.5 rmb. Very good indeed.
just wondering how is it to take 12+ h flight when u r 60+ ? :-)
I am 60+ and have taken such flights on leaving/returning to China - no special problems.
Why use the the "I'm 60+"? Are you guys ashamed of stating your ages? What gives?
A lot of fun to read all these reviews
@Alexez
I'm not yet 60+, but the grueling 16+ hour flight depends on several things. B-class definitely worth the upgrade if you have the stones - otherwise China South economy seats are kind of fine, except for the guy next to me to decided to use the vacant seat between us as his foot and pigu rest, then started kicking me allegedly in his sleep - I whacked his butt but REALLY hard after the third round, as he kept waking me up - old people can sometimes behave this way - although it's considered assault AND battery in the USA...but extincted Mr. Happy Feet for the rest of the grueling 16+ hour flight (plus layovers and plane changes).
But - maybe he was just having a really vivid dream as I ignored his WTF look. Can't believe I did that...
...only ordinary problems, the main one being the incredible boredom and phoniness (it is this I find 'grueling') of commercial air flights and their plastic atmosphere when it lasts more than about 1&1/2 hours (airports are very similar), and less than 1&1/2 hours they're both unnecessary and ecologically damaging. Felt the same 40 years ago. Doubt if I'd like Michael's problem described above either, but for me that's not the main thing.
When I leave China it's on the surface, unless I'm crossing large bodies of water. Looking for inexpensive (as it should be but isn't anymore - costs the shipping company virtually nothing beyond meals) passenger-carrying freighters.
If a ship has set aside space for passenger cabins, they have given up cargo space (cost). I would also guess you don't eat the same as the crew, this means both more, and different rationing (cost) and maybe a different standard of cook on board (cost). They may also need a different ticket to carry passengers (additional cost), and then there is added insurance costs and other health/safety costs.
Gone are the days of just jumping on a tramp steamer and sleeping in a spare bunk, or putting up a cot in a midshipman's berth.
With regards to flying. As I get older I get stiffer, and the old style small seats for small people, and little leg room, would really make me uncomfortable now. In the past I have been unable to fully fold down the table in the seat back. Happily, those days of small seats are gone now on Chinese international flights.
I am also less tolerant sitting next to poorly behaved passengers. But, judging by some of the videos on line, more Chinese are flying regularly and won't put up with it either.
