indeed Dudeson, the people in a position to implement changes are also the ones who benefit most from the status quo (short term).

so is it fair to say the majority of respondents believe guanxi is not in decay in Yunnan?
secondly the majority would like to see it eliminated however nobody seems to have a realistic way to achieve this?
and most respondents appear to be non-Chinese - do the Chinese have a totally different perspective to foreigners re the utility and importance of guanxi?
I think China never had a time without guanxi. So most Chinese won't even know what it is like with no or less guanxi.
Many of us are married to Chinese citizens and are annoyed by it too.
Most Chinese, would tell you. "Well, thats the way it is and that's the way it always was." And making a fuss is dangerous. But that doesn't mean that most Chinese like it.
There are ways to change it, but the people in power profit the most from the system, why would they change?
@Dudeson's: 'Many of us are married to Chinese citizens and are annoyed by it too.'
True, if you mean what I think you mean, about being married, regardless of the nationality of spouse
@vicar
lol....yeah damn marriage!!! lol
Quote David Spade:
He takes any drug, he is married, he just wants to feel different.
Excuse my ignorance Dudesons
How is guanxi related to marriage?
There seems to be a lot of frustration with this phenomenon! do you agree?
@stephen58
not related to marriage. i just forget the word "they",in "they are annoyed by it, too"
Hi there is a guy named HFCAMPO who contributed to this who made some great comments.
I'm not using guanxi but if he is in Kunming I would like to invite him to join me for breakfast, lunch or dinner at his convenience.
I am Stephen58 who brought the Guanxi case to Go Kunming. and are a lecturer and researcher from Australia.
