I am here with my husband and 2 young children for 6 months to study Chinese and trying to get ourselves established. Have found an apartment near Keats school that is very minimally furnished with no wardrobes. Wanting to ask where I could buy:

- baby furniture (cot, high chair)
- household goods (kitchenware, rug, clothes horse, clothes rack to hang up clothes or drawers for clothes as no wardrobes at apartment, lamps, bed linen, pillows etc).
- toddler toys (bike, books, puzzles, cars and trains etc)
- bikes for adults

As only here for 6 months, looking for functional but not expensive stuff. If anyone could recommend a store and where to go, or if anyone has anything to sell, that would be great.

Walmart, Metro, Carfoure, GOKM ads. Ask at Salvadors. Might get one the helpers who advertise on GOKM to help you.

The closest for you is Walmart, north of you on remin and huancheng. It will have most of that, and affordable.

A lot of ordinary stores have most of this stuff too. And there are second-hand markets, but there it helps a lot if you already know some Chinese. You might ask the teachers at Keats.

you will get all of that at walmart or carrefour. they have a lot of plastic drawers. there are hanging rails in a frame with zip around covers for clothes. hight chair you may need to visit m ore than one store. but you may be able to get it all under one roof in one shop which will make life easier

Make a request on gokunming classifieds and Carrefour are a lot more realistic suggestions than asking at salvadors. Couldn't think of anything worse than someone coming up to me while I'm sat having a coffee and someone coming up to me asking if I knew where they could get baby furniture or toddler toys from. Must be functional AND non expensive too, blimey
