Studying in YNNU 2015/16

Hello, guys :).

I'm starting this thread to find out how many people are going to study in Yunnan Normal University starting this fall. I was granted Confucius Institute scholarship and I'm going to Kunming this year. Unfortunately my friends got accepted somewhere else so I'm trying to get to know as many people as possible - I don't want to be there all alone, you know :D.

Leave replies, maybe we will get to know each other and not feel lost at the very beginning :).

Cheers!

Don't worry about that. One of the first things you need to do is register for your course. There will be a huge queue and you will have a couple of hours in which to see and connect with new faces.

Depending on the Campus, if you are downtown then head for Wenlin Jie and Wenhua Xiang (Wenlin St, and Wenhua Alley) both close to the campus. You will see lots of other students there.
If you are in Chenggong campus, just outside the south gate is a commerical area, at the south end of this area look for French Cafe.

You won't be alone, there are many students studying at Yunnan Normal and elsewhere. There are a couple of places (cafes) on Wenlinjie or Wenhuaxiang where you can easily meet some other foreigners, especially ones from western countries, some of whom will be language students.

Thank you for your replies, I feel relieved. I think I will be in Dec.1st Street Campus as it's the address of the School of International Chinese Studies.

There are two - one is on Yi er yi da jie campus, close to the gate on 建设路 and the other one is on Chenggong campus in the east district, hua wen xue yuan building 1st and 2nd floors.

I will be in YNNU as well. Does somebody have a clue when the semester is exactly starting? My confucius institute does not know, they just sait 'beginning of september".
It seems that the germans haven't get any further information yet except for that they have been accepted by YNNU.

I'm YNNU student. Usually we have to show up after 25th August and not later than 30th September (if you are a scholarship student e sure to double-check - some scholarships require you to show up before 10th Sep). Classes usually start in the first week of September, depends on the course you're taking, but it's not a problem if you are late. However, I recommend coming to YNNU in the first week of September.
