First of all thank you to all the contributors to this forum, and for the help on my previous post regarding apartments.
I have another question: What is a good amount to budget for food, transport, entertainment. I know that this will vary depending on taste however, I would like to get a feel for how much you all spend/ budget. If I have 5000 CNY a month in addition to a housing budget, will this be enough to live comfortably?
Thank you
If just for yourself then yes 5000 would get you by easy enough.
You can live well with 30 yuan a day or less, like most Chinese do
5ooo is ok unless you eat out a lot and go clubbing, then pusing it a bit. 5000 ok for couples if spend most time at home. and go out once week, drink beer, and not to fancy places.
apartments range between 1000-1500/month utilities 200-300, internet 100+
that's 2000ish right there,
food can be 30 (cheap food) to 100(better food) a day X30 days that's your 5000 right there
If you have to support my wife, then no - otherwise yes.
You can live like king if you spend 5000 a month only on food and fun!
He's not talking about rent. Yes, 5000 a month is enough to cover food, drink, and utilities provided your are not wining & dining at fancy restaurants every night. My wife and I live on less than that, I would guess about 3000-4000 per month.
If mostly buying local food and drinks from the wet market and supermarket, cooking at home, going out for entertainment on weekends, occasionally taking the taxi and eating out for lunch or dinner, it's feasible for two people.
