>>Yesterday or the day before the site showed "data unavailable" for the Kunming stations for a while. Since then the readings have been markedly lower. Zoom out a bit and you'll see the surrounding area still has the higher readings.<<

Now the AQI reading are 64, 65, 72, 79, 89, 95 and the weather is roughly the same as in the last weeks when the reading at this time of night (10 pm) were often over 150.

Anyone have a different explanation than data manipulation?

Today's weather isn't anywhere near the same as last week's. There was a lot more smog and it was colder. IIRC, it even rained the day before in the early morning. But yeah, that doesn't mean the AQI data is accurate or haven't been interfered with.

I can see from the previous posts that there are some conspiracy theorists about. Let me give this subject a different viewpoint:

I live in the north. The Western Hills are in the south (go figure).

When the published AQI numbers are high I look out my window and can't see far at all. When the published numbers are low I can see all the way to the western hills.

There is a direct relationship with the published numbers and how far I can see. I think the numbers are accurate so there must be other factors affecting the readings.
