Hi. I'm spending the next couple of months in Kunming and am looking for intensive chinese courses. Probably 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week for about 2-3 months.
This probably means individual lessons - but would prefer to do within an existing intensive program or progams. So trying to find programs or suggestions on the best approach for intensive.
All thoughts appreciated. Cheers,
Hey Expat999!
You are a little bit out of luck since there is a holiday here in China until March... until then I suggest you find a private tutor. Check with New Dongfang over at Wen Lin Jie. The school is at a strange location behind Rocco's Pizza but they can probably design something for you and then you just find private tutors on the side and you should have it covered :) I think New Dongfang starts earlier than the universities.
Hi Expat999,
I would really appreciate hearing about what you end up doing and how satisfied you are with the situation. I'm looking for the same set up as you when I move to Kunming in a few months and I'm having trouble getting detailed information on intensive courses (I would also prefer an existing program as opposed to just an individual tutor). It would be great to hear from you on this (my email is jangelson (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks!
If you're looking for something that intensive you might consider moving in with a Chinese family for the duration of your stay. Just make sure you inquire about Putonghua (Mandarin) and Kunminghua, the local dialect that most families speak at home.
