I have a bit of an idea for a consulting company. Don't want to get into the details but it's related to education with kids and adults. I was reading up on WOFEs and I see there is a 5k USD starting minimum for China, but that the minimum investment capitol varies significantly city to city in China. Has anyone on here recently started this process in Kunming or a nearby city and could give a ROUGH estimate what cost for minimum start up would be in USD? I'm just trying to understand if this idea is even FEASIBLE...Thanks!
15k usd in account for 2 year, plus rent cost,.and what ever else you need.
Newest form of foreigner owned business entity in China is FIPE, or Foreign Invested Partnership Enterprise.
This model has no minimum capital investment or corporate taxes, so it is very well suited for startups.
However, when I have discussed this with Kunming business consultants, they have said that although the company itself can be started with minimal investment, the foreigner working in such company will have to provide bank deposit or other proof of means to live in China.
In other business models, the capital investment serves for this purpose.
