Does anyone know where I might buy a 'western style' cake/birthday cake in the north? Since Samoana is gone I don't know where to try and I dislike the tasteless local rubbish. A rough idea of the price would also be useful.
thanks in advance.

There's no need to be condescending, arrogant and pompous for that.
What is Fake cake?
Doesn't Prague Cafe in the north sell desserts? Maybe they have cakes.
isnt wicker basket in the north as well?
Wicker Basket in the north is right next door to where Samoana used to be
thanks guys. I'll try the suggestions. @HFCampo - I consider the cake sold at most local bakeries to be a pale imitation of what I would expect a cake to be like. that tasteless sponge covered in some kind of 'cream' and topped with random fruits (including tomatoes). 'Fake' may be to strong a word (and not a word I'd choose) but I'm staying well away from those nice looking but poor substitutes.
@Yankee00 - Have I missed something? I don't mean to be 'condescending, arrogant and pompous' but I'd prefer no cake to most of the rubbish that is passed of for cake locally. My Chinese friends usually feel the same after trying some decent cake. I feel the same about the bread (which is why I make my own). Still, each to their own!
Again, thanks for the useful suggestions and to those who answered a simple and straightforward question.
next up, does anyone have any recommendations for the type of cake?
maybe you can give someone a recipe and pay them to make one for you.

Is Roz back in town? Or maybe German chef Sandra would bake you a cake.
Sandra is connected to the Chef's Choice (I think that is the name) shop which is in the shopping area adjacent to Metro on the sub ground level.
