obama cate isn.t perfect but it is better than what was going on in the past. and through competition and adjustments it will get better. if the US want ever to become like european stayes with public or government health coverage. it has to start somewhere. it will need a little bit time and the usual f**k up here and there. but the overall outcome will be benefitial for everyone.

you are most probably getting veterans healthcate options, as ex-military. so i guess you are safe of any major financial health desaster. and that is good.

but everyone should have that safety net. i mean it.s the 21s century and something as basic as free or affordable healthcare shouldn.t even be a discussion anymore.

but we civilians don.t have that luxury and there are worse choices.

e.g. high deductibles, in china not much use, but in the states if you get a normal plan and for example a 800 to 1000$ annual deductible. whats your monthly premium gonna be?
family plans e.g.

plus its not just forcing people to get insurance it.s also, if not mainly for people not able to get a plan due to pre-existing conditions.

the IMG london insurance blokes are the cheapest world wide cover, i could find..especially if you choose a high diductible and if you are travelling a lot to foreign countries and 180 days are covered in the US (with limitations) . i didn.t read the US exclusions, since i am not planning travelling there any time soon.

but you can check.others at brokerfish. com for expat insurance.

Just a side note: I did my US taxes already this year, and they told me I am not obligated to buy Obamacare, but they did not say why.
