About Thee Baron:

Thee Baron is an American DJ specializing in rare soul, post-punk, reggae, garage rock, and punk. From 2001-2014, he played in San Francisco Bay Area punk and hardcore bands including So What, Factory Minds and Call to Arms. He internationally released three LPs and multiple singles, and his bands have shared the stage with punk legends such as Cock Sparrer, Rancid, X, the Avengers, Agnostic Front, and the Vibrators.

In 2011, Thee Baron began to DJ and immediately got two weekly San Francisco residencies at the Beauty Bar along with a monthly residency at the Milk Bar playing post-punk, new wave, and indie. From 2011 to 2014, he started an all vinyl ‘60s rock and soul party called Shake Appeal with DJ Omar (Popscene), he maintained residencies at the Make-Out Room and Monarch, and he made guest appearances at soul, garage, indie, punk, and brit-pop parties throughout the SF Bay Area.

Seeking an alternative to San Francisco as a tech industry town, Thee Baron expatriated to Seoul, South Korea in late 2014. There, he was recruited into Korea’s longest-running ‘60s retro party, Shindig, and eventually took it over, booking live rock and roll concerts as well as club DJ nights. He also had residencies at Seoul’s most famous indie establishments Club FF and Pet Sounds. In 2016, he debuted Seoul City Stomp, an all-vinyl ‘60s soul and reggae party at the Living Room, and had a monthly residence at Seoul Community Radio.

Thee Baron moved to Shanghai in 2017 and got a taste of the city’s underground scene with the first gig at Dada. He later founded Shanghai Soul Club, the only vinyl-based northern soul party in China, with Sacco Vanzetti. Since emigrating to China, he has had various residencies at Specters, C’s, Riink, and the Parrot, and he has deejayed with vinyl DJ legends such as Andy Smith, Ernesto Chahoud, and JJ Whitefield.
