Friday: Sunglasses party at Uprock
Back in the day, all you needed to throw a party in Kunming was booze and someone who could operate a CD deck – but the market demands more today. Now parties require accoutrements too, such as hats, or in the case of tonight's party at Uprock – sunglasses! DJ DD and DJ Mong supply the tunes – music starts at 10 and entry is free.
Friday and Saturday: Hi Fashion nights at Cargo Club
Cargo Club will be upping the ante on Friday and Saturday nights – wear pink and sunglasses on Friday or pink and a hat on Saturday and get free champagne or cocktails. Parties start at 10, entry is free.
Saturday and Sunday: Mother's Day discounts at Gingko Tree Massage
Gingko Tree Massage on Wenhua Xiang will be offering a special 50% discount off all massage services for mothers and 50% off all vouchers purchased for mothers on Saturday and Sunday for Mother's Day.
Saturday: Danyun Fair Trade Development Open House
Yunnan Danyun Fair Trade Development Co will hold a World Fair Trade Day open house on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00. The event will include free tea tasting, a spring cleaning sales, a 2009 product preview, and an introduction to Danyun and Fair Trade.
Saturday and Sunday: China Open at Hello! Haigeng Minigolf
Hello! Haigeng Minigolf will host the first-ever China Open minigolf tournament on Saturday from 7 am to 4:30 pm and Sunday from 7 am to 6pm. Competitors from more than 20 countries will vie for glory and cash on what should be a sunny weekend. Entry is free.

Saturday is movie night at TCG Nordica - they didn't tell us which movie they're showing, so you'll have to call and ask or just show up and try your luck. Movie starts at 8:00, entry is free.
Saturday: ipod party at Uprock
Uprock will hold a user-generated party on Saturday in which anyone showing up with their ipod can plug into the sound system. There will also be a foosball tournament with a big bottle of alcohol as the prize. Music starts at 10, entry is free.
Sunday: Mother's Day dinner buffet at Grand Park Kunming
The Grand Park Kunming will offer a special Mother's Day dinner buffet on Sunday from 6:00 to 9:30. Dinner is 158 yuan per person plus 15 percent surcharge. Special gifts will be provided to all mothers.
Sunday: Free Market at Uprock
Our friends at Yunnan Magazine will be hosting another Free Market at the Uprock Terrace this Sunday, and it looks like the weather will finally cooperate. The market features local art, crafts and second-hand goods. Soft drinks and cold beer will also be on sale. Market starts at 2 pm and runs through the evening.
