Voting is now officially underway for the thirteenth annual Best of Kunming Awards. Beginning today and running through midnight of Thursday, January 9th, readers can choose their favorite Kunming businesses and establishments here on the website. A separate, smaller group of categories in Chinese will be made available soon through GoKunming's WeChat official account.

The nominations are in, following a two-week nomination process across our 12 website categories. Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out our survey and submit the names of their favorite places! Each group contains eight nominees — except for the two destinations categories, which have more. These lists automatically include last year's winners. In response to nomination feedback, we've swapped out the ''Wellness Center" of year's past and replaced it with "Best Arts and Culture Venue".

How to vote

Voting for 2019-2020 is open to all registered GoKunming users. Simply log in and then place your votes here, or follow the 'Vote now!' links below. If you do not yet have a GoKunming account, you can sign up by registering here. Each person is allowed only one ballot, so make sure yours counts!

How to win this year's voting prizes

As with last year, we are offering the chance to win prizes for all who vote on the website using a verified GoKunming account. The voting prizes have been graciously donated by Yang Liping. We'll be giving away two pairs of VIP tickets to a performance of Dynamic Yunnan (value: 960 yuan per pair). If you would like to become eligible to win, be sure to log in, cast your ballot in all categories and enter your current phone number in the proper field. A random drawing will be held January 10th, after the voting has ended, and the winner will be notified by Sunday, January 12th. Good luck!

Voting results will be announced on the website following the seventh annual Best of Kunming Awards Ceremony, which will be held the evening of Saturday, January 18th. The evening will feature a show recognizing the winners in each category, speeches, dazzling dance performances and a lucky draw with fabulous prizes for attendees. More details are coming soon. The venue for this year's Best of Kunming Awards Gala will be Paulaner Brauhaus, who have graciously offered to host the awards show. Paulaner will offer a free beer to everyone who attends the event, and will continue to serve drinks and snacks throughout the evening.
