Friday: World music at TCG Nordica
The "Unravelling the Silk Road" concert at TCG Nordica tonight will feature world music on flute and guitar from Jack & Ed. The show starts at 8pm and costs 30 yuan at the door, or 25 yuan in advance from Nordica, Wheatfield or 1895 Movie Bar.
Friday: DJ Alex at the Hump
DJ Alex will play rocksteady, funky soul and hip hop at The Hump Bar tonight. The free party starts at 9pm.
Friday: Live rock and Reggae at Camel Bar
Kunming bands Sigangli (司岗里), Dachong (大冲) and Xi (嬉) will play at Camel Bar tonight. Entry to the 9:30pm show is 20 yuan.
Friday: Solo shows at 1895 and 1896
David from The Great Apes will play a solo show tonight at 1895 Movie Bar. Up north at 1896 Sports Bar, Italian folk musician Robert will perform, singing in both Italian and English. Half-liter cans of Valentins Weissbier will be available for 18 yuan at each venue. Both free shows start at 10pm.
Friday: Black & White party at Uprock
Dress in a combination of black and white clothing for the party at Uprock tonight. The party will also feature funky dance tunes from crowd favorite DJ Xiao Kris. It's free and starts at 10pm.
Saturday: Jazz at TCG Nordica
The Jazz concert at TCG Nordica on Saturday will include Erhu music from Erhu player Huangshan (黄山), as well as piano, singing and dance. The 8pm show costs 25 yuan and advance tickets are available from advance tickets available from Nordica, Wheatfield or 1895 Movie Bar.
Saturday: Rock and reggae at Laowo Bar
Out of town acts Buyi (布衣) and Longshendao (龙神道) will play folk-infused rock as well as reggae and ska at Laowo Bar on Saturday. The free show starts at 9pm.
Saturday: Halloween costume party in Lijiang
Rhizome – Lijiang will throw a halloween costume party on Saturday that will include a pumpkin-carving contest. Entry to the 9pm party will be 20 yuan.
Saturday: Halloween party at Half Angle Bar
Half Angle Bar will have a halloween party with cocktail specials and jack-o'-lanterns on Saturday starting at 9pm.
Saturday: Folk music at 1895
Italian folk musician Robert will give a solo performance at 1895 Movie Bar on Saturday with a special on half-liter cans of Valentins Weissbier for 18 yuan. The free show starts at 10pm.
Saturday: Live bands at Uprock
Uprock will have live music from The Tribal Moons, The Québec Redneck Bluegrass Project and The Great Apes, "arguably Kunming's best three bands," on Saturday. Costumes are welcome. The show starts at 10pm and costs 20 yuan or 10 yuan with a VIP card.
Sunday: Halloween pub crawl
The 4th annual Kunming Halloween pub crawl will include wacky games and drink discounts for those who come in costumes. It will start at The Box at 9pm before heading to Salvador's, Halfway House and, finally, Kundu.
Sunday: Halloween party at The Hump Bar
The "dick or teat" Halloween party at The Hump Bar on Sunday will feature 60s and 70s music all night and 15 yuan gin and tonics.
Sunday: Halloween costume party at Uprock
Uprock will have a halloween costume party on Sunday night with prizes for the best costumes, drink specials, music from Martin Solberg and more. The party will be techno-free before midnight by popular request, with music ranging from hip hop to pop. The venue would like to emphasize that while costumes are welcome on Saturday, the real Halloween party is on Sunday night. The free party starts at 10pm.
