Hi, I live very close to Green lake too, with two children age nearly 3 and 5. We often hang around Green Lake and and we have found a few other quiet parks nearby too.

There is one indoor park above Parkson on the 5th floor. it is great for the children as they can play in there for hours and you can watch them or go in with them. Best go on a week day though as it gets a bit crazy at weekends.

I'm thinking you may be asking for feta cheese (a white curd sheep/goats cheese that been brined, salted).
I am pretty sure I have seen it in Carrefour BUT it remember it was really expensive.

i just buy the goats milk Rubin cheese made in Kunming from my wet market. it is not quite the same but similar.

I also have a great recipe for homemade curd cheese from cows milk (Indian Paneer style) which is similar to feta if you are interested as it is really easy to make and a whole lot cheaper.

I am a member of the Main Kunming library, just off Green Lake. Cost me a 500 rmb deposit.

You need your passport ID and address in Chinese and take them straight to the reception desk downstairs. Then it was 35 rmb for the year member fee.

The English section is on the forth floor. If you have any problems with Chinese language there is a lovely girl called Alex who speaks great English. She works on the 4th floor English section and has gone out of her way to help us on many occasion.

They have heaps of books on everything from Science to Business marketing, Internet, spiders, breastfeeding, nutrition etc and in the last 6 months they have had a whole heap of new books, cds and dvds.

(Sure they have 83743462 text books on physics from the 1960's and lots of psychology that are just as dated!!!!, However they have many newer books too)

If you want a particular book that they do not have they are more than happy to order it for you as a library book.

The service has always been excellent.

Oh dear! Obviously you guys haven't met the right people. I must be very lucky to be surrounded by such lovely people and most people I have met in Kunming are just delightful.
