The issue is not 5.5 rmb.
The issue is fraud. As said above, just because you are on low pay does not mean stealing is OK.
The flip side. Just because you can afford to use Lazy Bones, does this make cheating you OK?
Lazy Bones have good reason to be concerned as this can seriously affect their business. If we don't trust the drives, we may stop using the service. This needs to be nipped in the bud.
Perhaps LBones could tell drivers that if they receive complaints, their services may no longer be required.
Forums > Study > Are there any programs in Kunming for foreigners to become qualified as Chinese teachers The question would be, if you want to teach back home, what qualification is recognised back home?
If the CSL course is like many TEFL courses, it may not be recognised in many countries. If so, you may get some private clients, but you would not be able to teach in schools.
It may also be worth contacting the education departments in both the Chinese Embassy and local government offices back home. Have you spoken to your high school Chinese teacher? He/she may also be in a good position to advise. Additionally you could try contacting the Confucius Institutes in Beijing or back home.
Just some thoughts

Computer? Depends on what you will use it for. Internet speeds here are very slow. I am outside the city centre and the fastest service I can get is 2MB/s. Connecting to the internet is via modem, we buy a service from the phone company, there is no choice in our suburb.
Cell phone, you can 'buy' a SIM here, but you need to get local to help you as all mobiles require real name registration. You can get pay as you go or contracts. Some local contracts allow you to phone any other phone with the same phone company, in the same locale, free.
I generally buy cheap phones, they are less attractive to thieves. Smart phones are available here, but from what I can gather they don't work to full capacity/functionality because of local connection/services are poor.

发布者I often turn up after 10 and the queues have gone by then. I turned up early a couple of times and have had to fight with large groups of Chinese getting their medical. One time a tourist group, another time I think was a gang of migrant workers.
Law prohibits new shared bike companies from coming to Kunming
发布者Looking at the link in the last post. Really got me thinking about the carbon footprint of all the share bikes in China. Following on from that the footprint of all of the disposed of share bikes. If we remember these bikes are mostly steel, the production has a considerable environmental effect. These bikes seem to be disposable, which begs a question about the sustainability of the business model as well.
An astronomical monster grows in Guizhou
发布者Astronomical monsters are often built in the middle of nowhere. Less interference from human activity. Guizhou fitted the bill.
If I was developing super computers, I would expect to do it somewhere where I could work secretly. I would also want physical security for something that will become a vital part of the telecoms/economic infrastructure. Guizhou has a history of building secure facilities inside mountains.
On a slightly different note, Guizhou seems to be developing must faster than Yunnan and may even have overtaken it. Guiyang has transformed itself in the last 15 years, and seems to have already overtaken Kunming. Some people were obviously very hard at work, while others were resting on their laurels.

Inspired relaxation at Yunnan's Fuxian Lake
发布者Addendum. These peddle boats seat up to 7. The water is very high quality. The sun sets later on the east side. On the west you have the mountains shadow and loose the sun much earlier in the day.
