I have to agree with everything @Haali said above. My experience too.

The is bureaucracy with Chinese characteristics. The person who originally said yes, did not have the decision making power, and she was overruled. It may be an internal policy issue, it may be a subjective matter, it may be based on your application. Whatever the reason, trying to find out the actual reason could well be a fruitless endeavor. It is quiet normal here for people in authority not to give a reason, and they won't budge. The woman probably cannot answer you, either because she does not know, or she is not at liberty to tell you. It is pointless embarrassing her further by pushing for a reason, because that is likely all that can really be achieved within the culture (face). It is also quiet possible that you would not be given the real reason, also normal here.
Sorry for your disappointment. The best thing may just be to move on to plan B.
It is possible that this cannot be fixed in Kunming. A trip to Qingdao may be on the cards.
On problem is China is about jurisdictions (fiefdoms). One district will not have a mandate to work on issues that really belong in another.
Start planning for a trip to Qingsao at least. Check out the Chinese version of AirBnB (someone on here will know the name), as this will be cheaper than hotels. Unless you still have friends in Qingdao that you can stay with. That way if you have to go, you are ready to do so at the drop of a hat.
A good result :-)
Worth knowing for future people sending stuff home.
Good luck at the PSB, I hope things continue to go smoothly for you all.

Great to know it is no longer dry.
Good review BTW
This has moved.
The cut flowers are about 700m east on Duonan Jie. The plants and trees are about 700 m west and follow Duocai Section.
A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.
Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.
In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.
They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.
They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.
Urban management officers replaced by plants
发布者I think this is more likely to be the trickle down effect, as more people at the lower end of the econmomic scale have disposable income now. The lower end of the vendors market will grow, and as these people get richer they will go up-market little by little.
Government looking to step up supervision of Erhai
发布者I was there a few months ago, and there was a lot of new guest houses built right along the lakeside road. Some of the pollution will be from run off of cement and dust. I am not sure what the white pollution is/was, eutrophication usually results in higher than normal concentrations of blue green algae, and we all know what that can look like (pea soup).
If lakeside hotels are flushing waste into the lake that is bad for nutrient levels in the water.
Actually, I can see the rationale for moving control to Kunming, the governments around ErHai are more likely to be influenced by local pressures and interests. Lets hope for more transparent management with less self interest. Here's hoping.
Bomb hoax temporarily grounds Kunming Airlines flight
发布者He should face criminal charges, and the airline should also attempt to sue for costs.
There have been too many of these hoaxes, in the past they have been because people were late for a flight or other stupid reasons.
When things like this happens, hundreds of people are often affected, and some of these effects can have financial ramifications for other passengers, as well as causing alarm.
Leniencey only sends out the wrong message. IMHO.
Party chief: Yunnan 'embracing a new era of environmental protection'
发布者The Great Lakes and many rivers in England were heavily polluted in the past, and all have been cleaned up dramatically.
I can and has been done in the past, and now there are additional new technologies available. All it takes is money, political will, and enforcement.
A countryside wedding in Lincang
发布者Congratulations. All the best for the future.
