Forums > Living in Kunming > Selling/Recycling Laptop in Kunming

Does anyone know where in Kunming is best to take electrical equipment to sell? I have an old laptop which will not make it back to the UK. However it might be good for parts etc.

Failing that does anyone know anywhere where it is possible to recycle electrical things - I also have a fair bundle of wires and some speakers. All European plugs though.

Any ideas welcome!

Forums > Living in Kunming > Writers and illustrators - Call for submissions...

This April Kunming Writers Workshop will be producing a small publication of writing and images from around China.

If you are a writer or illustrator working or living in the area and would like to submit a piece for the collection get in touch!

We are looking for pieces of fiction (or creative journalism) of between 1000-2000 words in length. This can be in the form of one long piece or several poems or anything inbetween. We are also looking for local artists who would be interested in illustrating sections of the work. Our remit is big so if you're not sure if your writing or drawing would fit in just send it anyway!

All money raised will go to support the Sunshine Homeland Program.

Submissions to be sent to rosakku@gmail.com

Word and JPG files are fine

Deadline for submission 10th April

Kunming Writers Workshop meets

Every Monday 7pm

Forums > Travel Yunnan > WWOOFing in China?

No personal experience here, but in China the network is very small - only a handful of farms. They decided to bend the rules a bit with the China organisation as it is a developing country and so being organic is not necessarily a prerequisite and sometimes they will charge you to stay and work. To me that was too far removed from the idea and there were no farms in areas I was interested in so I'm not doing it here. But if you do try one of the farms here it would be great to hear how it goes. Good luck.

Forums > Travel Yunnan > Wanted Hire Car Dali to Yuan Yang 24th Fab

I'm looking for a hire car or someone to drive me and my family from Dali to Yuan Yang around the 24th February, going through the countryside.

If anyone knows of anyone in Kunming or Dali offering these kind of services any info would be great. Or if anyone has any experiences hiring cars around Yunnan, how was it? My dad reckons he can drive (hes never driven outside Europe but is experienced) but I'm not too sure...

Cheers

Forums > Travel Yunnan > Good hotels? Kunming, Dali, Yuan Yang, Yang Shuo

I have my parents and sister coming to visit me in Kunming in March and have been looking around the city for more interesting places for them to stay. I've looked at the Green Lake Hotel - far too expensive and the Home Inns - which are reasonable but boring. Then most of the bigger hotels are on Beijing road which is a nightmare at the moment.

Does anyone know of anywhere more unusual to stay. I think we can spend about 150-400 a night. Top priorities are closeish to the lake and quiet as possible. Something with a bit more character would be perfect.

If you have any experiences or recommendations let me know.

I will also take them to see Dali, Yuan Yang and Yang Shuo so if anyone has recommendations for interesting and unusual places to stay there any info would be appreciated.

Cheers
