You are getting paid for being white in an Asian country, for doing sweet f**k all. You get paid more for doing the same thing as local. First world problems. Get over it.

Hi,
I'm planning on going to Dongchuan County for a weekend soon (end of April) and wondered if anyone here had been before and could offer some tips and advice.
From google, I've gathered that I need to catch a bus from North Bus Station on Longtou Lu and I know a few notable places to watch the sunrise/set.
What I would also like to know:
Hostels and guesthouses, what are they like? Pre-book or not necessary? I'll probably be arriving at night, will they be easy to find?
Getting around - is it good idea to hire a car or van for getting to the various locations? How much is it generally? Or is it easier to walk or catch the local bus or taxi?
If you can offer anything else, I'd appreciate it. Thank you very much!
I use 12vpn, got it a week ago - I bought the lite version which only allowed 10GB per month for $35/per year. I found a promo code that gives your 10% off from this site: www.randomwire.com/tunnel-through-the-gfw-with-12vpn (scroll to the bottom for the code).
I use it on my Mac and on my iPhone. Both work well and very easy to install.
Just want to add that I followed Philou's directions and map and made it there in one piece. So, do use Philou's map. I caught a taxi there from the Wuhua district and it was around 10 yuan.
My boyfriend and I bought two good quality bikes there. Prices range widely between stores, so shop around the whole markets.
There were many things to buy there including: furniture, kitchenware, homeware, bikes, motorcycles, clothing, shoes, hardware (tools etc.), tea, Chinese herbs, CDs, DVDs and lots of other random knick knacks.
Have fun. :)
Hi, I'm arriving in Kunming to study at YNNU in Feb '11. I do not want to stay at the dorms/student housing.
I was hoping someone here could recommend a hostel/hotel/service apartment that is within walking distance or short bus ride away from YNNU. It will only be temporary, less than 3 weeks, until I find a place to rent for the year.
If you have any advice or tips on areas/suburbs to rent that would be greatly appreciated too.
Thanks! :)

I ordered a cake from here and was so happy with it. It was moist, delicious and cruelty-free!
Barbara was very patient and accommodating with all my questions and requests. It was just so easy and hassle free ordering from her.
Slice of heaven is vegetarian and vegan friendly also, all you have to do is let them know.
Barbara, you are awesome and you'll see me again very soon! :)
