any chance it was a meteorite way up in the atmosphere? i've seen big ones before that leave a long smoke trail, sometimes sparkling, before skipping back out into space or burning up. if it was a meteorite, at least it didn't explode like that russian one.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Air Quality!!! Kunming Not So Good.

On the way back from Dali yesterday we saw a number of forest fires, including a couple near Anning. That might explain why levels have been so high this week. And on top of that, they're digging big trenches to lay those pipes for the Burma oil line and it's been causing massive dust clouds for a long stretch of the highway. Not a good time to be in Kunming.

Dashan Yunnan Spring Water has donated 7000 bottles of water for Liping's kidney treatments. The water is now available by donation at Salvador's, Slice of Heaven and O'Reilly's. This promotion has already raised an additional 13,000 RMB to help pay for Liping's medical costs.

Awesome night. Thanks to John and Cass for their hard work. Thanks to all the ticket sellers and to Moondog for getting those tickets out. Thanks to the amazing musicians we are lucky to have in this town. And thanks to all of you who been so supportive of Liping. The world needs more of this.

The outpouring of support continues to amaze. So far we have raised more than 70,000 rmb, and the donations continue. Thank you to everyone who has helped out, and a special thanks to Barbara for organizing tonight's fundraising quiz. It was both very successful and good fun, plus she made some amazing pavlova. Liping has started dialysis and has returned from what was really the edge of death to having a chance at a relatively normal life. And that would not have been possible without the generosity of both the local and international communities. On behalf of Liping and the rest of the Salvador's crew, thank you so much for your support.

I'm leaving this review for one of my staff. She just return from Dali and fell in love with this little restaurant in Dali. Very nice owners cooking up delicious and healthy Chinese cuisine with an open kitchen and local "organic" ingredients. I'll have to try it out myself next time.

If you're looking for a slightly higher end place serving local foods in a nice outdoor atmosphere, you'll dig this place

I'm disappointed in myself for even considering giving this place another chance. I wanted to give my 4-month old a chance to see some live animals and I was sure that there was no way that the Kunming Zoo was as bad as it was 15 years ago. Somehow it was worse. It's disgraceful that with all of the changes that this city has undergone in the last two decades that this zoo still lacks any sense of decency or morality.

At nailer and tallamerican, I'm sorry to hear about your recent experiences. We wash everything with purified water and make all of our food fresh daily from whole ingredients in order to avoid any problems. We will review our procedures to assure that we continue to provide the safest and healthiest menu options possible. I hope you'll give us another try and I'd be happy to buy you a coffee if you are around any morning.

@GoKunming, it would be nice if there was a zero star option for reviews so that business owners can contribute without having to rate ourselves. I kind of feel like a d-bag giving myself stars 1-5. For some reason I settled on 4 as the least douchey ;).
