There are many houses for rent just south of the south gate of Dali Old town that are relative inexpensive. A friend of mine rented a 2 bedroom for 1500 RMb just 2 months ago.

The pictures of Baoshan are posted on the link above. The Nasty road to Lugu Lake has been under construction for the last 8 years. I know because I have used it several times since 2004.
The road from Ning La to LuguLake (75 km) is just about finished although there was an interuption in work due to the recent earthquake a few months back.
Both roads (Long and Short Route) are relatively new and in good condition. Only the 26 km road from Lijiang to Lugu lake is a mess.
The days of lockers in airports and bus stations is long gone. Leave a bag unattended at an airport or bus station and see what happens? The sick people who run the govt see a locker as a place to keep a bomb nowadays so they have all been removed.
For a fee, you can leave luggage at the Left Luggage Office.

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.

发布者Nasty smokers always fill the most ventilated areas with smoke then it blows into where I am trying to sleep. Cant wait till they bring in the death penalty for all smokers.

This article is a great example of a failed project. First of all, PSB should have notified the chinese, not the foreigners. When my wife called the 12319 number they had no idea what she was talking about. Secondly, if they want to put a stop to this mess they should stop the sale of this completely, not just go after illegal vendors who did not get a license to sell. Just another attack on the poor.

发布者Thats not the point - they make this annual notice as if there is concern for the welfare and safety of the people - public notice reminding holiday revelers to mind their manners during the imported holiday season when it has nothing to do with safety - In an effort to limit such mayhem, the PSB has forbidden all unlicensed curbside peddlers from selling feixue (飞雪) products.
Dont you get it? If this was about safety they would not allow this to be done any more - all they do is limit those who sell the stuff like spray and fireworks - limit those who paid for the priviledge - those who dont pay for the license dont get to sell.
This notice has nothing to do with foreigners, or X-mas, or safety - it is about stopping unlicensed vendors!
