I bought mine in xi chang lu (西昌路), there's plenty of shops but you should ask some chinese friend in the campus to help you, you need to bargain, to ask more info and then try it on the road...
I actually don't agree on 123go because I love kunming (and that's personal), but I think his criticism was really well expressed:
Bj is a romantic and energetic city with cultural diversity.
kunming has no cultural diversity, maybe a yunnan diversity or laowai backpacking diversity but not global diversity and this is objective.
kunming is everything but energetic, people are pretty lazy here. For example the cultural/artistic life, that is one of the main factors of an energetic city, is simply absent in kunming, and that's another objective fact.
Then these things might be not important for somebody but these are facts and who points them out doesn't deserve to be treated like "people's enemy" and be invited to leave.
If I meet somebody who told me he spent 6 years in bj and 2 in km the first thing I ask is "what do you think of the two cities?" and then I listen... of course that's my personal point of view, yeh no big deal...
I can't find anything wrong in resurrecting an old thread, that was also one of the funniest because of gaoxing :)
123go is actually very objective and interesting in his criticism and I liked to read his personal view of kunming and beijing..tell him to pack his bag is extremely rude and stupid...then czeking the speling misteikes of people shows how bored few people are here...123go welcome (back) to kunming!

that's funny how people here complain about the e-bikes in town.. how do you think most of people go to work? kunming is getting everyday larger and just following the trend of every chinese city, how do you guys think population can move from two different sides of the town and be on time to work? by bycicle????? maybe taking the wonderful saturated bus? and what about the taxis impossible to get in rush hours? i think e-bikes are a good compromise for a city that has no good infrastructures yet and where the new minority of rich is buying an uncontrolled number of cars....the situation will probably be better when the subway will be ready....

Mc Donald's breakfast better than Prague Cafe? that's funny..I personally think Prague Cafe's cappuccino is the best in town...
exorbitant prices? whenever I try to cook some western food I spend more in buying the ingredients,they are amazingly expensive in km..

Good place with one of the best pizzas in town (especially the white one with mushrooms), good yoghurt and cozy atmosphere.
To get it there,from jian she lu go along the wen lin jie until you find game cafe and dune cafe at your left, then take the narrow street at your left, you walk for 1 minute and you will see it at your right!

Totally agree with Barbara, I've been many times in Prague Cafe and I have to say:
-the cappuccino is the best you can get in town
- their breakfast offers, especially the fruit salad with yoghurt and granola never disappointed me
- the pasta is of course not authentically Italian but it's always cooked in the proper way and tasty (and it's not cheap to make a good pasta in kunming)
- the staff is absolutely friendly, efficient and nice (this is another thing not easy to get in town)
People are getting more and more picky in km, we should just remember we are in south west of china and considering the prices of foreign ingredients we should think to be lucky to get somebody available to provide foreign dishes (no western bars/restaurant gets rich in km).
Criticism is good when it's done to improve things, otherwise sounds just over the top and not respectful.

Litlle "critic" about this interview: not even a mention for the fussball, a brilliant idea that helped creating the mixed chinese/laowai crew which is one of the nicest and most precious contributions the bar gives to the city....long live joost and moondog!!!! See you soon back here joost!

发布者sorry guys but I still think this award is a joke... quality is not counting preferences, clicking links etc otherwise the best musicians ever will be m.jackson, the best film titanic or the best website facebook..most popular often doesn't mean the best...i gave an example nordica hosted few of the most interesting musicians coming to town and it's not even mentioned as a music venue...then if u call the price the best of gokunming i think it would b less pretentious, misleading and fair enough... peace roberto
