The reason why Qingming falls on Apr 4 or 5 as a festival has nothing to do with the 4/death homophone. It's the name of the particular solar term. Btw, Qingming seemes to be the only Chinese 'folk' festival that does not follow the lunar calendar. I'm a bit surprised this slipped in such a well-written article.
