Lot of good information on upcoming things that I have no experience on guys, thx. Obviously I will want to play a major role in helping his early education like my mother did with me as a young child. I think that is one of the major impacts you can have as a parent!
As I thought just the early exposure would be enough for small talk but like some say once a child reaches a certain age teaching will become key to fluency.
@voltaire I will look into that book today, thx for recommending :)
Online hearsay is not always just that though, sometimes personal experience comes through.
A small question (to any experienced) I have in my mind with my Chinese wife due to give birth in about 4 or so weeks is this....
With me (obviously) and my Chinese wife both speaking English at home but everyone else around us speaking Chinese (family, friends etc) will the child learn both languages easy enough or will it just be the home language that stands out? We see family most days for meals so plenty of Chinese language around.
Any kind of thoughts on this would be appreciated :)
Watched it and was amazed at how high these girls basic expectations were! Maybe if this vid was done in Kunming (probably bigger city made in) then the expectations would probably be lower. Couple of the guys gave me a good laugh with their thoughts on Chinese women.
"checking to see if the elderly who are given seats say 'thank you'."
That's definitely a tough pass, I can't remember ever getting a thank you from an elderly person for any kind of polite gesture (holding doors, picking up something they dropped etc).
Overall, even if it all goes lax afterwards it must have some kind of longer term imprint on the city.
100% agree with that last sentence Peter. I wasn't on her 'side' when I first saw the vid but now after seeing the way it's gone way out of what it should be viewed as, it's easy to become more friendlier to her view.
Have noticed a marked improvement on the way things are done this week, so I'm happy. Any progress adds up over time to get closer to that point we'd all prefer.
@tiger First thing I thought, a lot of money that's not going to be recouped through tourist spending anytime to quickly. Definitely bumping up the GDP, can't knock any kind of upgrade to the area but I'd be so much more impressed if it was put into something like countryside schools as liumingke1234 said. In fact I'd have quite a fair bit of admiration for the government then.
Been here several times lately and every time I've enjoyed my meal. Don't know why some others have said it was pricey, the price has always seemed fair to me :)

发布者Have been seeing a lot more people wearing masks in Kunming these days, so she's hardly the only local to be thinking this way about the air.
