Forums > Living in Kunming > Foreign Experts Cert v Residents Permit Bit of a clarification on what Alien posted.
Z visa does get you into country first time.
Foreign Experts certificate says you are allowed to work at the specific job
Residents permit is given after FEC & says you're allowed to live here!
Some of us get Alien employment licences (work permits) instead of an FEC.
Forums > Living in Kunming > China driving licence Ah, so now we get the full story! That's the problem Lightening. Over 60 here you need a medical every year. Though the "medical" is very basic.
So for the rest of us whippersnappers (I'm 50!) we don't need to worry yet.
Forums > Living in Kunming > China driving licence @ Lightening. I'll get my wife to double check this on Monday. I'm in Guangzhou & got my licence issued in Qingyuan 4 years ago. My wife was sure you only need the repeat medical once past 60-something. Will push her to check it again.
Forums > Living in Kunming > China driving licence Never heard of this before. My Chinese Edie is having lessons at the moment.....asked her about this....she says it's not the case in Guangzhou
Forums > Living in Kunming > what would U do if U can't afford the credit card Expensive learning moment! I do have some sympathies but am still amazed at the amount, especially as I'm always told the Chinese people are big savers and careful with money.
I do know what it's like to be in debt. Mine were 150,000rmb at the time.....but I earned 450,000rmb/year (lived in the UK at that time). Took me a year of having no spare cash & taking advantage of an interest free balance transfer credit card to clear the debt. China doesn't have those yet as the population here is still going through the growing pains of credit card usage.
The advice given has been good. Ask family for help & then pay them back. It'll save a small fortune in interest payments
Liverpool brings football philosophy and training to Kunming
发布者"Kunming was more recently thought to be in the hunt for a new Chinese Super League franchise. Rumors were rampant that European coaching legend Sven-Göran Eriksson was considered a front-runner to run the team, but nothing ever came from such efforts."
Sven is past it! He's done nothing in his time in China at GZ Fuli, SIPG or Shenzhen.
Government sues parents to get kids back to school
发布者@Janjal, good point about 15 years old & marriage. What about these (combined) points:
"while the other two are working in another city. Their parents have promised the two children will return to school next semester."
"A kid working in the city can bring back 20,000 yuan [US$3,000] a year," an official at a county-level education bureau in Yunnan told local media in 2014"
So local officials are condoning children working illegally underage? First quote is more valid as it refers directly to this case! They know two of the kids are working illegally & havent dome anything about it except get "promises" from the parents that they'll send them back to school "next semester"!
Life on the Dulong River: Stepping towards the present
发布者I also agree Alien. Governments the world over seem to know what's best for people rather than asking them what they want.
Up to 1,000 Dali businesses to close in face of new policy
发布者"However, business owners such as Mr Zhao, who spent six million yuan (US$870,000) to open a guesthouse, worries about his livelihood and those of his employees. He blames government inaction and "hasty decisions" for the entire situation, saying:"
Well maybe if he'd built his guesthouse properly with connections to sewage, etc he wouldn't be in this position now...
