Forums > Living in Kunming > what would U do if U can't afford the credit card @ Zhang Lijuan. If you can only save 800RMB/month then what did you think you were doing spending 53,000RMB on credit cards?
That's 5.5 YEARS of your disposable income!
What also amazes me is how stupid the banks were to give you credit cards in the first place!
Forums > Living in Kunming > Upfront costs to renting an apartment Wow! Seems like you're all getting shafted on rental terms in Kunming. I'm in Guangzhou and standard terms here are two months rent as deposit and first month up front. Normally agents fee is shared with the owner. Then pay month by month. So initial outlay is 3.5 months rent of which you get 2 months back at the end of the contract.
Forums > Travel Yunnan > Return air ticket required for L-visa? Thanks for the clarification....though as I said (or you said)...that was back in 2009, things have been tightened up a lot since then. A Z visa from HK is maybe possible but very difficult to get now.

Larung Gar: Sichuan's extraordinary Buddhist retreat
发布者Great article but interesting that there is no mention that this wonderful place is about to be drastically reduced in size. If you want to see it as shown then GO NOW! The government is about to demolish loads of it and reduce the numbers of monks and laypeople by a huge amount. Unfortunately can't give you a link that doesn't require a VPN.

发布者Next line down claims they've borrowed $594m to pay maintenance costs. That's a lot of hong bao on contracts ;-)

发布者Greed which way HFCAMPO? The local government imposing the 80 kuai charge, local businesses or both?
I've been to Huangyao Guzhen in Guangxi a couple of times now. It's 100 kuai a ticket to get in there. IF the money gets spent on the infrastructure & renovations/repairs then find. Big problem is if it gets siphoned away elsewhere.....
