@Liumingke1234 do you mean a dbs (used to be crb)? I have a recent one from working in England but wasn't asked to show this to anybody before coming here.
I'm going to speak with somebody on Monday to try and resolve this. Until I start work I'm not doing anything wrong but I want to get this sorted asap. They seem like quite a reputable school so hopefully they will sort it.
No need for me to let the leader of my local council know, he resigned over a big scandal recently. Anyone who's seen the news in England lately will have heard of my town unfortunately

I also have a couple of questions about the subway; What time do trains run until in the evening/night? And when I buy a ticket, is there an option to do this in English? I don't think I could manage it in Chinese yet :(

I was just wondering if there is a website or some way of finding out the bus routes in Kunming?

I mainly just want to find out which buses I can take from Rixin Road into the centre, and which side of the road I catch a bus in the direction of the centre (heading east or west?)
If anybody could help me that would be great :)

I wasn't charged anything, I've actually not paid for anything (visa, plane tickets, accommodation, food etc) in this whole situation. I wasn't actively seeking work in China, I was offered the job through the leader of my local council, the solicitor and agent were working for the school, not me. Hopefully this will be resolved soon. If not I'm a bit stuck; I can't afford to leave, but if I stay and refuse to work I will have nowhere to live, no money to eat etc.

I'd like to assume that this is all resolvable and that the school don't want me to work illegally, they simply don't usually hire foreigners, but we'll see.

Thank you to the people who have tried to help and advise me, it's greatly appreciated. I feel very naive for trusting the school (and solicitor and agent ) to sort out the correct visa for me. I will talk with somebody at school to try and resolve this asap, hopefully before i start working.
