Apparently this occured within 1km from the people's home, so could indeed expect them to know the place.

One adult and a child. Who knows - could have been returning from hospital or whatever unavoidable business.

I heard two people drowned last night, after driving their scooter to a few meters deep water in middle of road.

Something akin the dip on Beijing Lu where it goes under the railway at old north railway station, which was also fully flooded in the morning.

One epic design flaw in some smaller alleys has been to plant trees right in middle of the sidewalks, which were thin to begin with and with trees inaccessible without some gymnastics - even without baby stroller or similar.

So the standard practise was to walk on the street, with pedestrians and cars (both moving and parked) dodging each other as best they can.

But now they have put the white fences also on some of these streets, separating the lanes for road traffic.

Thus cars going on one lane can no longer move to the neighbouring lane (even when available) to give room to pedestrians.

Timber!

@lemon lover: "A step down at the subway elevator makes perfect sense. If not the subway will be flooded when it rains"

Ah, good point. I remember the floods in the city few years ago!

Since this website serves foreigners (and locals) not just in Kunming but wider in Yunnan province, I wonder if something to reflect that could be arranged in regards of this PSB cooperation.

At least my personal observations of matters related to organized crime is not so much in Kunming, but outside it.

The first episode left a bit hasty picture. in my opinion in line with what Kunming is - a crossroads city to spend a day, max two, on way to other tourist sites in the province..

Personally I would have liked seeing more in depth stuff, not just the 2-3 highlights available on any travel guide.

But probably cannot do much more in few minutes show, and also why I don't epect much more from the coming episodes.

@vicar: "I know how to keep toilets clean"

In most public toilets in city (and beyond) that I have seen, they have a cleaning person stationed on the premises. I don't know know if they even go home for nights.

In many countries that alone would be considered a huge investment, but obviously not in China.
