I also never heard anything like this. A Chinese girl who wants to get a foreign guy in order to be able to leave the country, would take Canadians, Americans and people from Europe. If she is halfway familiar with these countries, she would rather pick someone from the big countries in Europe (eg France, Germany, GB...) because of the social welfare system.
Someone stated, that you should better be prepared to become a father soon willingly or unwillingly. ?!? Unless this girl is Virgin Mary, she can only get pregnant when you dont use contraceptives (eg condom, the pill). By the way, emergency contraception and abortion are no means of contraception although Chinese seem to think so.
Finding a Chinese that's a piece of cake!
Why? You are white, you come from a 'rich' and 'advanced' country —> you can offer stability and mixed raced children. Most Chinese people only care about financial security due to the lack of state social benefits. No one really cares about your look and personality (citation from my hairdresser). Plus the language barrier (if you cannot communicate you dont have deep conversations and serious discussions) and of course the cultural difference (Chinese would assume that your odd behaviour is normal for people from your country). People from the same foreign country can tell straight away if someone has some real mental issues or is a looser.
I have seen a lot of foreign guys over here with Chinese girlfriends and I'm really happy for them, because back home (for a various reasons) it's not easy for them to find a girlfriend. And for a foreigner it's easy to tell why. Of course it's just easier to buy a plane ticket and go to another country to find a girlfriend, where you can also get a whole new identity, instead of just changing yourself and asking yourself what's the problem with you.
By the way, there is a much cheaper option: There are agencies in every country that help you to find a girlfriend ;-) So no need to waist so much time and money on coming here.
If it's just for sex, someone told me prostitutes are very cheap over here...
@HFCAMPO
Sorry, I didnt get your point about "As for men directly asking you for sex, keep in mind the environment in which you are in. You did not say you are walking down the street and they ask you for sex.". So if I go to a bar, it's totally acceptable to be asked directly for sex by Chinese men, no introduction nor anything? And if you say no, they start offering you money and offer even more every time you say no. And everything in a rather agrressive attitude. Meaning if I dont want to be molested, I should stop going out with friends?
When Im walking down the street or sitting on a bus or in a cafe people just come up to me and start touching me. In my country that totally inacceptable, so I asked my Chinese girlfriends and teachers why is that. They explained, that most Chinese have no experience with dealing with foreigners, so they jusr dont know what's appropriate and what's not. Also the stereotype of foreigner being kaifang might add to it, because this kind of things never happened to any of my Chinese friends.
From my excperience people also come here, because they were sent here by their companies back home. Just go to Shanghai, Chengdu and so on. Those people didnt choose to come here.
Also some people have to stay in China, because their home country is in a financial crisis and they wouldnt be able to get a job back home.
I encountered that living in Kunming is actually more expensive than back home. But the difference is, back home you actually get something for your money.
I also would like to add, that some Western men like not only China but Asia in general, because here they get all attention from the girls. Back home that would be almost impossible. Some of them even told me that they cant get along with the girls back home and that they are very happy in China.
I have to admitt that I also complain about China. Most of the time it's just that I think I'm the only one encountering such a problem or annoyence. Just to give you some examples: electric devices and extensions cables that start burning for no reason, all the food poisining, Chinese guys coming up to you in a bar and ask you directly for sex (I always wear long trousers, sneackers and a t-shirt), old people coming up to my touching my hair, my arms, my cheeks and so on when they talk to me. Just too mention a few.
When I complain to my Western and Chinese friends, I often find out that they have exactly the same problem like me. Sometimes they can help you to deal with it. But most importantly is that you have the "Im the only one having this kind of a problem" feeling any more,
I strongly disagree with the "you are just a guest" theory. I've been to a lot of countries and at every house I was offered a cup of tea, coffee or something else. That's called hospitality.
When Chinese people come to my country what am I supposed to answer when they start complaining, something like "Dont complain, just go back to your home country if you dont like it here"?!
If I hadnt seen the bus today, one would think it's a joke. There is no need for a sight seeingbus. You need sights in order to have a sightseeing bus. Polluted lakes, construction sites, 'a village of tents' where builders sleep and the 2nd ring road are no sights. In cities like London and Paris it makes sense, because you can take photos of the Eiffel tower and Big Ben and so on. But here you cant see anything of the sights while sitting on the bus.
But this will only create more, definitely not needed, pollution when driving around all day long. I mean Higer is a Chinese brand. That means outdated, non environmental friendly technology. The red ribbon and the fancy colour dont help. The money the government spent on it could be better used for other things.
@ Ocean: Just have a look on the Law of the People's Republic of China on Maternal and Infant Health Care, "Chapter II Pre-marital Health Care"
" Article 8 Pre-marital medical examination shall include the examination of the following diseases: genetic diseases of a serious nature; target infectious diseases; and relevant mental diseases."
It's not definite and leaves too much room for interpretation. So it can also apply for colour blind people, people with learning difficulties, people with big moles or large port-wine staines or any other kind of "diseases" that could be passed on the offspring. Doesnt matter whether it's actually from the medical point of view (Western standarts) hereditary or not.
And "Article 16 If a physician detects or suspects that a married couple in their child-bearing age suffer from genetic disease of a serious nature, the physician shall give them medical advice, according to which the said couple shall take corresponding measures." (abortion/sterilization)
Anyway, there are a lot of good reasons to leave the baby in the 'baby refuge'. Most of them doesnt have anything to do with whether you want to be a mother or not.
On top, without marriage certificate technically you are not allowed to have children. They have to pay huge fines on an annual basis, the child doesnt get a hukou. It was even big on the news the other day. A mother in Hubei couldnt afford to pay the fines and the father was unwilling to marry her, so the 8 year old girl is still not able to go to school and so on.
Besides, the marriage law says:
"Article 6 No marriage may be contracted before the man has reached 22 years of age and the woman 20 years of age."
"Article 7 No marriage may be contracted under any of the following circumstances:
(2) if the man or the woman is suffering from any disease which is regarded by medical science as rending a person unfit for marriage."
Besides, the Chinese government offers a little financial bonus for every woman who gets sterilized after her 1st child.
havent been there in months, because I wasnt too impressed. but some friends and I thought we should give it a try again.
This was definitely the last time we went there... very unfriendly staff who dont pay any attention and the owner asking you whether you cant squeeze in the last slice of pizza when she cleared the table...
About the pizza, very oily and low quality products used for making it
