There was this exelent shop at the South/East corner (Everything from nails to screws, paint to brushes, electric and water stuff, basic tools etc). Where has it gone? I looked everywhere for it!

lao nai yang yu (老奶洋芋) means "grannies potatoes" not "old milk potatoes". Thus grandmother's style potatoes. It takes a bit more than Google translator to understand Chinese ;-)

But basically all Dai food is nice.

If you are far from it; forget it.
All SI's I know (And only those make the top salaries) were brought up bilingual by their parents and think bilingual. They do not translate anything they read the thought of the person they are translating for. If you are still learning Chinese you get lucky if you get a few hundred kuai for a whole days hard work.
(Of course there are exceptions like the Finnish girl I knew who spoke 14 languages fluently [Chinese was not one of them!])

They are real.
There is a filling station at Qiancheng Lu opposite the bus station near the Walmart there (South Kunming).
The filling station has mobile tanks (4 tanks fitted on a trailer with is lifted up on one side to get the gas out).
With the supply of gas from Myanmar soon to arrive I expect more and more gas powered vehicles (There are taxis on CNG as well).

The times have changed.
The eastward run was as follows:
8861: Kunming Bei to Wangjiaying:
7:31 to 8:39
8862: Wangjiaying to Kunming Bei:
9:24 to 10:34
8839: Kunming Bei to Wangjiaying:
16:50 to 19:35
8870: Wangjiaying to Kunming Bei:
18:28 to 19:35

Shizui station has been closed. I do not know if the westward run still goes and till where.

The passinger service is about to be closed completely but on the otherhand the Narrow Gauge Railway museum is renewed and was suposed to be opened in January. I dont know if this really happened. Will check it out some day.

Well maybe the reason why they are still in business is that they guard their books well.
And do you expect a pizza restaurant to speak Italian? Or the staff of the French Café to speak French as well?
In a country in which bookstores are state-shop dominated and the book branch is swallowed whole by internet shops, this is a brave attempt and should deserve some respect.
