I work and live in Chenggong for the past 1 1/2 years at the Howard Johnson Hotel, which is located next to the new Government buildings.
In this area there is obviously the hotel with its facilities as well as few independent chinese restaurants, pharmacy, nike shop and all the major banks.
There are two apartment complexes which are located close to the hotel and they also have restaurants and some small shops for groceries and daily household items.
Hi, I have lived in Chenggong now for the past 1 year ( close to the Government buildings).
From my knowledge, the housing/apartment rental varies between 800RMB - 2500RMB.
The nearest Carrefour is situated next to The Empark Grand Hotel, which is about 30min drive away from the Governmental Buildings.
Don't know anything about schooling though.
Next to the Governmental buildings there are quite a number of chinese restaurants with various cooking styles and a 5 star hotel to be opened during this spring time.
The light rail train plan and the subway plans are one and the same.
Partially it will go underground and partially it will be above ground.
Chenggong section connected to city center will be opened in 2012.
From city center to Chengong, 40minutes by car in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon ( 17:00pm-18:30pm).
Chengong is still very much under development, therefore expect dust and dirt. But generally the development seems to be quite well organized ( yet slow ) and future looks bright and beautifull.
Government is schedule to start to move into Chengong within this year.
