Heinz,
I might be able to help you. How can I contact you?

I went there about 3 weeks ago. The market is pretty big, but if I went back I'd go on the weekend since a number of stalls were closed. Of course, it was nice because it wasn't mobbed...
The place is called 昆明福德旧货市场。 If you take the 90 south and get off on 福达路口, it's across the street and slightly north. Look for a big red sign on the top of a building and follow the signs. It's pretty famous apparently.
Hello,
I'm relocating to Kunming this summer and I'm planning to travel around the area in July and August. I'm looking for travel companions to join me in exploring Kunming and perhaps parts of Sichuan. My plans are very flexible, so if you'd like to get out of town over the summer for any length of time and you want some company, let me know.
It would be great to travel with someone who knows the area a bit, but just wandering is also fun.
A bit about me: female, 46, native English speaker, lower intermediate Chinese level, non-smoker, responsible but laid-back, budget traveler.
I'd prefer a non-smoker, female would be nice.
Hope to hear from you!
Meilin
For those envious of the winter in the north...I live in Jinan (considered north) and all of this
"...There is no insulation, no central heating, every restaurant keeps their doors wide open so you have to wear all your winter clothes while you eat and most apartments have a fusebox that cannot handle a heater and a TV being on at the same time...."
is true, but we also have highs of below zero most winter days. In most parts of town, what heat there is is cut off about a month before winter is actually over. That is a miserable month for sure.
I'll take Kunming.
