I've sent overseas by this method a few times and have never lost a box, but I have had the boxes quite badly damaged in transit. Make sure that you pack the boxes with some pretty rough handling in mind.

You will probably need to break your stuff into two or three boxes to get it back.
Try sending it with EMS. They have small boxes that are easier to send than boxes with most other courier services.
I'm still here. As far as I know it is possible to send out parcels, but expect it to take longer than usual to reach Australia.
Don't waste your time with other banks. Bank of China is the best way to get money out. You will need a bunch of documents, but they will let you transfer up to the full value of the pay that you have received in China and paid tax on.

A trip to Yunnan's Jurassic Park
发布者It is worth noting that the park is makes a decent place to stop along the tollway from Kunming to Dali if you are self driving and doesn't require going down the potholed road into LuFeng town.
Having seen the park in full operation though, you don't miss much by most things being closed. Growing up facinated with dinosaurs though, the museum was worthwhile even if it more or less only has Lufengosaurs' on display.
