If anyone would be interested in doing a long distance ride outside of Kunming, please contact me. The ride, below (posted by another user) sounds interesting. And apparently bikes can be rented in town.

the road from Anning to Fumin, which runs through a verdant river valley. The loop from Kunming thru Anning to Fumin and back to Kunming runs to about 130km.
