Forums > Living in Kunming > Problems with China Eastern Airlines

China Eastern has many decent flights out of Kunming, which is why my family and I always book with them. However, we have been screwed 3 times in the past year similar to what others are reporting(several hour delays for no reason, booking changed to different days, riding buses from the plane to the terminal when the terminal has a zillion open jetways. . .).

Recently, China Eastern moved a flight one day into the future; the kicker was that it was part of an international leg returning to China. When we called to inquire and attempt to get a flight on the same day, CE said it wasn't their fault, it was another airlines fault. Laughable, and typical. Looking on the bright side, we get to spend a day in Laos before returning.

We have one more flight to Shanghai on CE and then we are done with them. Fingers are crossed, hoping it all goes smoothly. . .

Well, I must've been really exhausted by Chinese society yesterday because shortly after sending my note, even with the work going gangbusters, I managed to fall asleep unaided. :-)

All week, all day long. Ok, I can deal with the noise and dust during the waking hours.

Now dudes are shoveling bricks in to a truck. It's 11pm. Wonder when they'll stop. . .

Forums > Living in Kunming > School-age children in Kunming

We just went through this in August 2012. I sent you a PM with the details.

For everyone else, we have our 2 kids in Chinese kindergarten and elementary school. It took a month to get all the details figured out to get them into school and the first month of actual school was a hard transition. Now, the kids have adapted and things appear to be decent.

Biggest piece of advice: Have a Chinese person help. You'll get no where fast trying to get this done on your own.
