Shop extermination is getting more and more common these days and with rent and wages going up, it will spread like wildfire if people continue to use Taobao so much. I had to put my foot down some weeks ago when my wife wanted to order diapers online, to save 6 yuan a pack compared to our local babyshop. I'm all for using Taobao for foreign stuff hard to get around here or if the price is significantly lower, but finding, negotiating, ordering, giving sensitive information to tons of vendors AND sit around waiting for a week+ to save 10-15 yuan is insane.
Our son is 15 months old now and we've never been asked to show any papers on him. Of course if/when we leave China it's a different thing, but for now we don't really need any papers. Regarding dual nationality, my country -like China- doesn't accept it BUT most of the time there's actually nothing they can do about it legally. If your kid has the right to Chinese citizenship he'll get it and if you go to the British embassy and he's entitled to British citizenship as well they have to dish it out also. Basically what you'll sometimes end up in are two countries both telling you you have to give up the other one's citizenship but in reality there's not much they can do about it without seriously violating the rights of the child.
Does anyone know if there are any airport hotels open yet? I have someone coming to visit next month and they can't get a connecting flight the same day.
Great that the government at least is trying to put some weight against raging capitalism when it potentially can devastate the ecology and environment in 3 provinces. Doubt it is more than a short intermission on the other hand.
Went there yesterday and it totally made my week. Nice decor and friendly staff and a real salad bar. Sadly we both wanted mexican food so I can't really say much about their other courses. The food was great but just a tad spicier would have improved the dish. The best thing was that we almost had the place to ourselves and we could have a quiet conversation without shouting, spitting Chinese people in the background. I realised how much I had missed that since coming here.
We went to Chicago Coffee a couple of days ago and it was a nice experience. The place is cozy with soft comfy chairs (I realized how much I have missed one since coming here) and they have a nice little collection of English language books in the corner consisting mainly of classics and travel litterature. I was looking forward to trying their advertized tortilla bar but it wasn't up and running that evening.
Instead we went for 2 12 inch pizzas -roast chicken and pepperoni- but we quickly realized that 1 would have been enough. Those things are heavy. I am mainly into Italian style pizza but Chicago's double layered pizzas are well worth a try. Their coffee seems to be a bit on the expensive side but people say good things about it and they have got a nice selection. I wouldn't mind dropping by again some day,, hopefully when they've got the tortilla thing going. English speaking staff btw.

发布者Better stock up on smokes, canned goods and drinks before going home then. I wonder if they let Lazy Bones into a quarantined building.

发布者That'll teach 'em. Girls that age shouldn't be doing stuff like that. They need to study hard and play duo mao mao in their spare time.
