I'm looking into ways of watching European Championship (soccer) games live, ideally with an English commentary. Any advice/websites?
Also, what's the difference between CCTV5 and CCTV5+? My TV has the latter but not the former. Does anyone know on which channel the matches might be shown?
I was wondering this too. Last article was 2 months ago (and was basically an advert). This used to be such a vibrant website which I checked daily. Much less so now.
Five years on, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. Parts of the road is being resurfaced, some of the underground stations are up and running, trees are being replanted...

Price is now 100RMB for adults, 70RMB for children.
Some of the animal areas are as far as 10+km from the entrance - you can buy a hop on/off bus ticket for 60RMB per person, but there are also clearly marked walkways for those who are full of energy.
Everything inside is pretty expensive - consider bringing a picnic.
Many of the animals are in large outdoor enclosures. Some are caged. The park calls itself a safari, but this is not a "drive your car amongst the animals" thing. It's more like a decent western zoo.
There are places to handle/be photographed with animals, for a fee. Also, some kids amusements.
The animal show is free, but a waste of time (unless you love watching goats, sheep, pigs, horses etc!!).
Good labelling i English thorughout.

Still worth a visit, especially for the arhat statues. The 11am vegetarian lunch is basic, but still only 10RMB. Free entry.

Prague cafe used to be my favourite cafe in Wenlin area but I went for lunch there today after a few months away and it's really gone downhill (new owners?). The menu was a photocopy, the food was lacklustre and much more expensive than before, the decor was dull and the service so-so. I won't be back there anytime soon.

It's open! And it's free. And its terrific for kids.
The museum is surprisingly interactive (although only 2/3 of the attractions are working) and modern (VR, simulators, touchscreens, etc). Sadly, no English on any of the displays but the fun is in trying to work out how the exhibits work and what they are supposed to be showing. Well worth a visit.
Can Kunming become a real international city?
发布者I think the public transport works reasonably well here. I got annoyed today about having to wait a whole half an hour for a bus, until I remembered that's par for the course back in Britain. And to only pay 1-2RMB compared to £1-£2 (10-20RMB) in the UK... woohoo!
When I speak to locals here they seem very keen indeed to visit foriegn countries, even if they can't speak any English. Every year a larger and larger percentage of my students seem to be taking holidays abroad with their families. (Fifteen years ago none of my 150 students had ever been abroad. Not one.)

发布者On the contrary, I think a token gesture is exactly what it is. But every little counts. At least they recognise the problem.
Much better would be for the police to wander around restaurants and enforce the existing law... or would that upset the status quo a bit too much?
