There is a specific Divorce Court in Kunming - it has a small simple office adjacent. You will need both marriage books to submit in application plus 50 RMB (I think). Then, there is a long wait (perhaps, 2 months) before you are called back to the court. Initially, the administrator's job is an attempt for you to rethink your decision - once it is obvious that a divorce is inevitable, the divorce is given.
Of course, if a fight related to assets or child support is involved then you'll need a good lawyer. In which case it may be best to leave China ....
@maudiodj - For G-d's sake, you/they want empathy?!
bucko, how on Earth can you say "... the blame is not with the owners/cooks of these places."? If some chefs can produce excellent-tasting dishes, then, the other cooks should be sent to a catering school (Together with the owners). Sub-standard quality is an attitude problem.
These stories sound very much like the proverbial 'when the cat's away the mice will play'. There are far too many cafes and restaurants in Kunming (and elsewhere) where the lazy owners are hardly ever on site. People hired to represent the owners rarely answer the problem. You don't need more than the fingers of one hand to name restaurants with visible and professional owners/managers in this capital city.
And, please don't waste your time saying, 'C'mon mate, this is China,' because quality is a matter of attitude.

Although not a review, permit me to address 'dianjing' and 'Ouyang'.
Surely, it would be better to obtain the visa prior to coming to China. Is it probable that your friend's problem was his and not the school's?
Rating, anything, on this Website without a review is useless ... at best.
My personal experience of KUST is their proverbial dislike of Foreign Experts.
Hello Dima; Many will welcome your arrival as the new manager. I hope that you will provide the cook with some assistance during peak hours. Some will be unhappy with the three-week closure, but you might tell them to visit Dan Di Cafe for a similar menu, if only temporarily.
Hey 'bucko', you must be fair, this restaurant is better than any place on Wen Lin Jie which you rated higher. Expensive? Try Green Lake Hotel. Small portions? Try Mazagran. It's all relative.
Although this is one of my favourite restaurants in Kunming, I find it necessary to warn the management that having a fourth floor extension has taken things one step too far (actually, about 70 steps!).
In my opinion, by extending the business, both the hard working kitchen and waiting staff are unable to maintain the original food quality and level of service.
A recent visit presented us with a luke warm fruit/mutton curry that comprised many pieces of fat and gristle, and a half tandoori chicken that had two legs (?) and not much else -- this dish would satisfy three people last year.
Official explanation for 'hide-and-seek' death reversed
发布者It is not surprising that access to the video and Li's cellmates was not permitted -- that's China. It is easier to demote or fire a prison officer because there are thousands of applicants to fill the positions. Anyway, we know that demoted government officials are re-instated after approximately six months.
Our main concern, now, should be to ensure that adequate compensation be paid to the family.

发布者I have no confidence about a just conclusion to this matter, and I'm not sure if Harvey Chen is being cynical or humorous but I do hope that Chris continues to follow this story (and I'm sure that he will) because it smells of strong fish. Oops, we've lost the video ... and the copy. Mmm, sorry for my cynicism.
Official: Uighur group not responsible for Kunming bus attacks
发布者Spelunker, with respect, it isn't very wise to make fun of these groups -- they're not children. I.M.H.O. this country has been asking for this kind of activity for some time. Have you talked to anyone (brain-washed Chinese excluded) who were surprised?
Two dead, 14 injured in Kunming bus explosions
发布者I guess that it's an interesting exercise (Googling the maps) but are people really expecting to view a recording from one of the many video cameras in the area?
I should like to learn more about the two farmers killed, and 41 injured police, in Menglian on Saturday, which is becoming an even wider problem.
Finally, is anyone surprised by all this?
Solar-powered trip around the world stops in Kunming
发布者This is a good idea and a wonderful achievment but has anyone wondered why it's necessary to keep plugging into the mains to charge the battery.
