Nice to see you here, we are a kunming based tour operator called "Wonders Of Yunnan".
There are 2 night trains from Kunming-Lijiang everyday (dep. on 22.25PM and 23.02PM), I would highly suggest to buy the ticket in advance, not on the day upon arrival. Hard sleeper is comfortable enough and they also have air-condition in the train (Net price is 142RMB).
In your case, it's the best if you buy tickets (when you are in Shanghai) and we meet you in the Kunming airport upon your arrival and hand you the tickets.

Hi,
I went through your message for travllling in Dongchuan, this is the best season (Jul-Sep) to visit there and take pics!
You can go to Dongchuan by bus, but for the amazing views you will need to take local buses as well so it's not so conveinence, we'd suggest you to hire a car, since it's only 2 hours drive from Kunming, rate is affordable, you may interested in an English-speaking Kunming tour opeartor called Wonders Of Yunnan, this tour is avaliable on the website!

Hi,
I went through your message for travllling in Yunnan, since 2rd Oct is the second of the national holiday, so it's harder to get tickets, cars, hotels etc, you better arrange it as soon as possible!
You can go to Stone forest by bus (not train), it's about 85KM away from Kunming, hiring a van/driver plus a tour guide would be a good suggestion, it's also affordable. You may interested in a english-speaking Kunming tour opeartor called Wonders Of Yunnan!
