Forums > Living in Kunming > introduction Yes I have discussed the Japan issue with my wife and IF we do come to Kunming we have decided that she will use my surname and will say that she is american of japanese descent. Not the full truth but probably best policy for her.
While Changmai has many wonderful aspects to it, I think Kunming offers more for me in terms of business opportunity. However I have yet to conclude my diligence on Northern Thailand versus Yun Nan.
I just once again want to thank everyone who posted on this thread. Its a wonderful thing when a stranger can ask pertinent questions about a place he knows very little about and get some very useful feedback.

I ask because my wife has given me a short list of things she "must" have to relocate and one of them is a decent swimming pool.
Paid a year in advance you say ? interesting. Here in Japan I can pay monthly or get an approx 5% for paying for the year in full.
Do you have insurance ? if so what kinds ? can you shop around or is there one flavor ?
