This Sat and Sun will be the all day testing of Gao Kao. Expect to see parents double parked and triple parked in front of some schools as they wait for their kids to finish their test.
Just another way to put undue pressure on the poor kids as they try to take a test knowing their parents are outside waiting to grill them about the test. After lunch, they go back inside and finish their test and then repeat this madness again on Sunday.
I am sure the kids had to go to the Wen Chang Dian - the temple in Guandu where students go to pray to Wen Qu Xing to bless them before the test.
Ha..Ha.. True. So much pressure. Also so much cheating goes on. They check for electronic devices such as listening devices. What a world we live in. Cheating has never been so much easier.
Over the years I have been able to compile a lot of statistics from the Education Bureau as well as other official organizations about Gao Kao.
Examples include how many births each year, how many students take the Gao Kao each year, how many pass the Gao Kao, how many graduate from Middle school and high school.
Also, a complete copy of the Gao Kao regulations.
How many get jobs in Kunming after graduating? So many graduates so little 'living wage' jobs.

A change in the Gao Kao system has been announced but not put into effect yet. Students will no longer have to choose between Arts Major or Science Major and all students will take the same Gao Kao in the future.

Another effective of the 高考 is the blocking of the internet signals so that using VPN is difficult. :-(. Can't have these students cheating to get ahead. It's amazing to what length and how much they spend on cheating, using sophisticated technology.
