Forums are quickly deteriorating

The reason that threads turn nasty and degenerate into name calling is when one person begins to identify another when writing a post.

If people just wrote whatever they wanted without making reference to others, then others will not be offended and have a need to defend themselves.

A good rule to follow is - Do not direct any posts to another person unless you are saying something positive about them or showing agreement about something they said.

If you were stranded on a desert island, which other GoKM forum member would you LEAST want to be trapped with?

Peter99 (1246 posts) • 0

No, thats not a good question. Rather ask who youd be trapped with.

Id choose mmkunmingteacher. He would go excited out in jungle and pick bamboo shoots, shoot monkeys and catch fish - be inspired - and cook delicious food on it. When all hope is lost, mmkunmingteacher would make a banjo guitar from a palmtree, say there is still hope and sing songs of hope under the fullmoon.

Least like?
Anyone who thought it was paradise; that the food was brilliant and wouldn't stop bleating on about the advanced culture of monkeys, snakes and parrots. On the plus side this person would provide all the motivation in the world to escape. So if they could feed me while I'm planning an exit strategy and I could provide a satellite connection to the Internet to keep them occupied, that would be perfect. But where d'you find a character like that?

nnoble, which would you rather be tuck on a desert island with?

1. Remains positive, sees the resources on the island, cooks large meals daily, helps build a hut with a positive attitude, constantly thinks of ways to get off the island.

2. Negative, thinks that island is "all disgusting garbage," picky eater who refuses to eat most of anything because "it is not like Burger King", sits in cave all day and mopes about how cave in hi country were better.

Neither.
These are two arbitrary and contrasting views I do not recognise and not in-line with my perspective when I answered the hypothetical question. A puzzling diversion.

On needing to defend oneself online: you don't, unless you think you do.

And don't knock the exotic and highly sophisticated cultures of the monkey-, snake- and parrot-people!
