The 2nd hand market under the overpass near Puji and second ring road is being demolished, probably for apartments.

All the vendors are moved out and no entrance allowed. Some of the vendors have put their wares all along the sidewalk under the overpass. This makes traffic around there quite messy during the day.

Great, another slice of old Kunming gone and new towering ugly apartments taking its place. This trend is depressing.

Yeah, I went by there the other day to get a bike, there are still a few holders-out left selling but just dozens of chengguan everywhere hanging out, and twice as many workers tearing everything to pieces. Amazing sight!
Too bad, that was one of my favorite places in Kunming!

Ugly or not, I think the amount of new housing being built far outweighs the demand.

Does anyone know if these sellers will relocate to another location? Or another market with similar things (mainly the antiques)?

I also saw this. And I have lost track of traders at other markets.

I have decided to change my strategy. If I see a trader I may use, I must get their business card. That way if/when they move I have a chance of finding them at the new location. Even if I don't speak Chinese I can write notes in English on the business card, and then get a Chinese speaker to call them if they have moved.

I have wanted to buy stuff from at least 3 suppliers who have moved in the last year.

the second hand market at the junction of Dian Mian and the second Ring Road is still open and thriving. Went there yesterday.

Go west on Xuefu Lu until you hit Puji, go over the crossroads and Huangtupo fleemarket (google maps knows) is on the right side before the Ringroad Roundabout and flyover.

Most of antique stuff sellers move back to the Panjiawan old famous antique market which was closed in 2010. It is one bus station from Xiaoximen. Another sellers are around the city in other second hand markets.
