Kunming residents, how easy is it to access the new KMG airport? I was going to surprise my parents by visiting on a whim last weekend. End up get shut down by dad. The reason: their car is in the shop so they can't go pick me up at the airport. And I won't be able to find a taxi or bus from airport to city, according to them. Now that sound crazy, no? What's the deal? Is the new KMG airport really that inaccessible? Or are my parents that out of touch with reality? Appreciate any feed backs from other locals!
I do airport transfer, charge 150rmb (170 for 11pm-7am). no matter how long the flight delays, the driver will wait till pick up the clinets. no extra charge for waiting.
contact John Xie 13354949490 or email johnxie@189.cn thanks!
That's very good news. My next window is in a couple of months. I would hate to fly 18 hours from LA only to get stranded in the airport. Thank you John!
You can also take a bus from/to the airport from a few locations in the city. Also an easy option
where in the world have you ever seen an airport that no buses or taxis that people can take to get into the city?
and the award for the forum with the silliest questions and topics in the world goes to...drum roll maestro.... Go Kunming!
or maybe crazyhousecat = another crazy poster from the past?
You wanted to pay a surprise visit to your parents in Kunming, but they already knew that they had to arrange transport to pick you up at the airport...
Okay.
First time poster from North America - visiting parents where?
@CrazyCat: your parents are out of touch with reality.
Or they really don't want a crazy cat around the house.
Glad to provide some fun to you folks. It may have been the silliest post, but a true story. I'm North American with parents teaching in Kunming. I guess I just thought this is one of those crazy things you hear. Or maybe mom and dad just didn't want to have me there (I'm perfectly normal I promise). And my surprise visit constitutes calling to ask if I could hop on a plane and show up 2 day later. (A safe surprise, and boy was I glad I asked). And thank you all to your kindness to a confused and inexperienced international traveler.
