And not a word from GoKunming? Maybe I was expecting too much. Only wish I had found out about it earlier.

Maybe he is looking for his replacement? Maybe you can see him at Salvador's tonight doing interviews?
His visit MAY have been a closed event. Education only. Ambassadors are traditionally appointed by the President, so President Obama will fill the slot on exit to repay various political debts.
I expect to see Ambassador Locke on the next presidential or vice-presidential ticket with Hilary Clinton as the primary presidential candidate. She might actually have a good chance at winning. I'm not particularly partisan either way - but I like Hilary. She usually demonstrates public responsibility, is sneaky (a political requirement), logical, and reasonably diplomatic.
She would be an interesting candidate for next president and her choice of US Ambassador to China would be most interesting.
Ambassador Locke was in Kunming Thursday. It was a very brief visit and a packed schedule, focused mostly on promoting U.S.-China commercial health care cooperation, Chinese tourism to the U.S., and Chinese investment in the U.S.
@Tonyaod
Long-Dragon is right. Most events and meetings were not for the general public. The morning was taken up by the Embassy's Commercial Office's exhibitions (the ones he listed) at the Green Lake Hotel, and were mostly for the press and mayor corporations.
@laotou: I'd definitely vote for Hilary. She's one of the best candidates the US would have seen in history.
