Hey Folks,
The holiday season is upon us and I am trying to maintain the cooking tradition. But, I've hit one brick wall that I can't seem to get around. I can't find ground cinnamon anywhere! And, I mean ANYWHERE. I have been to 3 Walmarts and 2 Carrefours. I can find some lovely whole cinnamon bark at both places. But, no one seems to have the pulverized version (which is really odd since its a major ingredient in five spice).
I've even tried to find a some sort of grinder that would work with the whole cinnamon. No luck.
So, I'm hoping someone out there will inform me about how clueless I am and point me toward the nearest supply. (Please, this one ingredient is holding up the train on Christmas Day French toast, spiced punch, spiced cider, cinnamon rolls, and the traditional pot of Christmas Eve chili.)
Thanks!

I think a mortar and pestle will do the job of grinding the cinnamon sticks.
Ground cinnamon can be found in small quantities at Paul's, Wen Hua Xiang, and in big plastic bottles or bags at out at Metro, Bei Chen. Happy Christmas baking.
Yep, as Barbara mentioned, it can be found at Pauls in the back of the shop, to the right. I was in there just yesterday and saw it.
I just checked my spices out, and we filled a McCormick's taco season bottle filled with ground cinnamon. Because it is in this bottle, I am almost 100% sure we bought a 500g bag of ground cinnamon from Metro (Horeca brand) then filled up our old empty taco season bottle. So don't freak out and head up north to Metro.
I bought a big bag at Metro. I use it with Oatmeal. It's called 肉桂(rou4gui4). I found it in the spice section. It comes in a 500g bag.
Yup, Metro has it. You can get it in the 500g bag or a restaurant size bottle.
I've tried using a mortar and pestle to grind cinnamon. It's ridiculously difficult.
An electric coffee grinder could also work.
Also, I might be wrong, but isn't the cinnamon sold in China cassia? Apparently that thing can be toxic.
Most supermarkets have ground cinnamon bags or small dispenser jars. Actually, many corner shops and convenience stores have it too :)
