Apparently the police beat someone in custody and it was caught on camera and broadcast in TV in Hong Kong. And this news comes from HK media. Granted, it's not Beijing owned media, but still should be trustable.

What's sad is that the protests in Hong Kong were already fading quite fast. It's almost as if they live in backwards land and want to agitate the protesters so it continues.

If the protesters weren't attacked, and the police didn't beat the guy the protests probably would have lost steam within a week. At least until the next holiday when people don't have to work.

Well they were just getting started with identifying foreign meddlers behind the whole operation. Easier to pick those if there are ongoing protests.

Doublespeak:

Assad Regime = Assad elected with over 90% approval with international observers who state election was fair.

Traitor = Bradley Manning - A person who did not reveal any national security secrets but just showed the world a video about the illegal things the US govt is doing on a daily basis.

Axis of Evil = USA + UK + Israel + NATO.

Terrorist = A person who fights for his family and country because he is invaded by a bully with no morals.

Statesman = John Mccain who visits and meets with ISIS terroists for the purpose of creating more terrorism abroad.

NPT - Non-proliferation Treaty = A means by which a few countries can keep nuclear weapons while not allowing others to have them for their defense against an evil bully who uses weapons of mass destruction on a daily basis and used 2 nuclear bombs in the past.

Home of the brave, Land of the free = Cowards who bomb small defensless countries but will never go against a real power like Russia, China or North Korea.

Democracy = people vote and say they dont want fluoride in their drinking water but the govt says shut up its good for you.

JanJal (1244 posts) • 0

No, that is democracy only if the government was elected by those same people.

Democracy is that everyone gets to choose the government, regardless of the quality of that government.

JanJal (1244 posts) • 0

That is austerity only when a government does it on its own citizens.

In other cases, it can be called occupation, colonialism, etc.

@HFCampo: Well said! But many sources other than the Big 5 are full of bs as well.
And then there is Chinese tv news...

@HFCAMPO
I was looking at USA election stats for some unknown reason and noticed that of eligible voters, about 60% typically vote - which is actually pretty good.

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on one's perspective - perhaps it's more an issue of the lesser of evils?), it's those 60% selecting each successive leader.
