IP protection/Trademark agent

Hi,
We're looking for a trademark agent here in Kunming who can help us protect our logo and company name here in China. I'm told trademark agents are significantly cheaper than lawyers.
Has anyone had any experience with this in Kunming and can recommend one?

Thanks
Mark

Not to derail the thread, but if Apple and a fleet of extremely high-paid lawyers cannot keep its trademark from being infringed upon, then how much luck would a local business have? Seriously, are there any legal protections on trademark that actually work in China?

Suggest you consult an attorney to get a referral to a trademark agent.

Edmond Yang (see ad to the left) has an excellent reputation. Your comments about trademark agent vs cost and trademark/IP protection are rather mutually contradictory - hence the recommendation to consult a reputable attorney first.

And seriously - Chinese attorneys are NOTHING like California piranhas (dang that word's difficult to spell).

I too would suggest you use an attroney or get a referral from one to a trademark agent. Edmond Yang and I have worked together from time to time. He speaks excellent English and has many years working with foreign firms in Yunnan province. Each province has it own special circumstances. I have seen cheap prices in past years for this over 20,000rmb and much higher depending on what is needed. Sometimes multiple trademarks/logos/names are needed for proper protection. With out this you have no recourse at all. Phizer was able to get a lot of protection for one of its products.
